READING CURRICULUM

Lee Antonello Elementary School breaks the reading curriculum into three parts: core reading (or tier I), Tier II reading, and Tier III reading.

CORE READING

Students are involved in Harcourt Trophies literature and lessons that are set to the grade level standards.

For more information on Harcourt Trophies, go to http://www.harcourtschool.com/menus/trophies.html

TIER II READING

Students are also involved in reading in homogenious reading groups based on reading levels and not grade levels. During Tier II reading students are placed with different teachers and read literature at their appropriate reading abilities.

TIER III READING

Students who have special needs in reading also participate in Tier III reading in which special programs such as Wilson Reading, Read 180, and Lexia are used to help define reading skills at each student's individual reading level.
