The K-5 Curriculum Essentials Framework is the basis for instruction in all elementary schools. The Curriculum Essentials Framework (CEF) supports the Clark County School District mission. It provides for site-based planning of curriculum, instruction, and assessment throughout the district. The CEF is based on the Nevada Content Standards and serves as the required basic structure for classroom teaching and learning experiences in all K-5 subject areas. It provides the content (the “what”), and schools provide the approach (the “how”) in the development and implementation of specific student learning experiences. Classroom teachers align curriculum, instruction, and assessment to ensure high levels of student achievement. The Power Standards are highly focused, specific areas of instructional emphasis and are essential for student proficiency in the identified K-12 subject areas.
