ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE

Students may not arrive on the school campus before 8:40 a.m. as there will be no supervision.  The bell to line up rings at 8:55 a.m. The tardy bell rings at 9:10 a.m.  School is dismissed at 3:21 p.m.  If you pick up your student from school, please ensure that you do so immediately following dismissal time.  If a student is not picked up by 4:00 p.m., the attendance officer will be notified and the child will be transported to the local Boys & Girls Club.  If you are going to be a few minutes late, it is important to notify the school.  If it should be necessary for your child to leave the school campus during the day for an appointment or other obligation, a note must be sent to school.  If you must come pick up your child during the school day, you will need to come into the school office and sign your child out.  You will be asked to provide picture identification.  Your child will not be released to anyone who is not listed on the enrollment form completed prior to coming to Beckley.

ATTENDANCE

Regular attendance in school leads to increased student achievement.  When a student is absent, the educational experiences lost during that absence are irretrievable since the instruction and interaction in the institutional setting cannot be duplicated through makeup work.  Attendance enforcement is a shared responsibility between the Clark County School District and the student's parent/guardian.  We expect students to be in school every day that they are physically able to attend.  The following information outlines major provisions of the district's attendance regulations:

Should your child be absent, please send a signed note of explanation to be given to the teacher when the child returns.

Routine doctor and dental appointments should be scheduled after the school day when possible.  Making up work miss3ed due to absences is encouraged.  Teachers may provide an opportunity for students to make up work missed because of an absence, and students shall be held accountable for the work.  Teachers may use their discretion in providing make-up work for students who have an unexcused absence or who are truant.  Please give teachers 24 hours notice to prepare appropriate make-up work.  Students shall be allowed the maximum of three (3) days to complete the make-up work.

Nevada Law plainly indicates that a student who exceeds twenty (20) or more absences during the school year SHALL be retained in the current grade level.  Excused absences are included in this total.
