The Walter Bracken Magnet Elementary School for Math and Science through Technology has been named a School of Excellence by the national organization Magnet Schools of America. School Representatives were honored at the 25th Magnet Schools of America Conference hosted by the Clark County School District in Las Vegas, Nevada. School representatives received a plaque during an awards ceremony for their selection as a national Magnet School of Excellence winner. At the presentation, the top Magnet School of Excellence was honored as the Dr. Ronald Simpson Distinguished Merit Award (sponsored by Phale D. Hale Education Consulting) with a cash award of $5,000.00.
Caroline Massengill, President of Magnet Schools of America, presented the Magnet School of Excellence Award during the national conference, which ran from April 29 - May 3 at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The awards presentation was held Tuesday, May 1, 2007. Attendees included more than 1,600 school administrators and teachers from magnet schools and districts across the nation.
