Cell Phones

Attention Students, Parents, and Families:

Nevada state statute is written to allow cell phone usage before school, during lunch, and after school ONLY; not during passing time or class time. Effective immediately, whenever a phone is seen outside of the designated usage time, it will be confiscated by a faculty or staff member and taken to the deans’ office. There will be no warnings. Parents or guardians will need to pick up their students’ phones in the deans’ office.

Cell phones should be turned OFF unless it is during the designated usage time, and they should never be in use while a student is going to class or is in class. Thank you for your attention in this matter.

For more information, please read the following letter (available in both English and Spanish):

Cell Phones in School

Additionally, Sheriff Gillespie and Superintendent Rulffes issued a joint statement regarding a dangerous trend in text messaging to advertise for parties. You may read their letter on the Parents page of this website.
