• Principal's Message

Principal: Dr. Manzanares Ext. 4100 Elmer C. Manzanares was born and raised in Colorado. He completed his undergraduate degree at University of Northern Colorado and earned his graduate degrees from the University of Colorado. He is in the process of completing his doctoral dissertation from the University of Denver. He began his career by teaching history, political science and economics at the junior high level. His administrative experience includes spending the last 15 years in secondary leadership. His best experience at Cannon Jr. High is being able to work with stellar teachers that share his vision of helping students excel in school and helping them achieve their best. He continues to be a loyal Bronco fan and certainly doesn’t mind having the opportunity to trade in his skis in the winter months for a round of golf! Assistant Principal: Mrs. Tonya Rose Ext. 4200 Tonya Rose was born and raised in Ohio. She attended Kent State University and Wright State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education. She received her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and is currently working to complete her Doctorate. Mrs. Rose taught English for five years and was the advisor for yearbook and S.T.A.T.U.S. for four years at Las Vegas High School. Mrs. Rose served as Dean of Students for two years at Greenspun Junior High School before joining the Cannon Family as the Assistant Principal. Mrs. Rose is committed to students becoming life long learners. Dean: Mr. Rahmani Ext. 4500 I graduated from high school in 1978 and completed my undergraduate study at Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma and earned my master's degree from University of Phoenix in Las Vegas in 2003. I began my teaching career in 1997. I taught third grade at Ruby Thomas ES, fifth grade at Elizabeth Wilhelm ES, and eighth grade physical science at Swainston and Cram Middle Schools prior to being appointed dean of students at Cannon JHS in 2004. Serving as dean affords me the opportunity to interact with faculty, staff, parents, and most importantly, the students at Cannon JHS. My hobbies include reading, watching news, Food Network, Discovery and Learning Channels, and going to the gym, although students find this difficult to believe.
