Cashman Middle School Library

The mission of James Cashman Middle School is to have each child reach their full potential.

Ms. Marian McHugh, NBCT
Library Media Specialist

Welcome to the Cashman Library! The Cashman Library is open daily from 7:15 AM until 3:00 PM. Students may come to the library before school, during the school day and during the lunch hour with a pass.

Thank you for your support of our Fall Book Fair! Your purchases provided a profit of just over $400 for new books! We have circulated over twice as many books to date this year as we did last year. The Cashman Library is full of excited readers throughout the day. Grade level Teams are scheduled for many research projects and students are really pleased with our newest database- WorldBook Online. Home access is available for all of the databases.

The Reading for Laptops program is underway with just over 120 available titles. Students may participate by reading any of the selected titles and completing the district's Laptop Contest Book Review. For each review submitted, students will be entered in a district-wide drawing to win a new laptop computer! Excitement is high and these selected books are flying off the shelves!

Budget cuts have unfortunately placed Secondary Librarians on the list of possible job cuts in Clark County. Click on the link below to read the latest report on the impact of school libraries on student achievement. Libraries are much more than places to checkout books. Check it out!

School Libraries Work!

Cashman students may check out three books at a time. Books may be checked out for a three week period and can be renewed for an additional week. Fines are assessed for late materials at the rate of 10 cents per day per item. Reference materials and magazines are generally not circulated. All library materials must be returned before the last day of school or the materials will be marked as lost and the student will be charged for the material. All charges and fines remain on the student's records until resolved. Fine notices/Late notices are sent out monthly. Per CCSD District policy, students are required to pay for any lost or damaged materials.

Please visit the links on the left to access additional CCSD and community resources.

School District Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) for computer use must be followed at all times. Academic use of the computer workstations has priority over recreational use.
