Cheyenne High School held its First Annual Political Symposium on October 7, 2008, at 6:00 PM in the school’s main gymnasium. US Congresswomen Shelly Berkley began the evening talking to hundreds of Cheyenne government students and their parents about the importance of Education. Each candidate was given the same question, “What will I do to improve Education in the Clark County School District?” Each candidate had five minutes to speak on the subject, and then had the opportunity to answer 1-2 questions from the audience. In addition to Berkley, Cheyenne students were able to hear from an additional candidate for US Congress (Wegner), 2 candidates for State Senator (Horsford and Gobel), 3 candidates for State Assembly (Kirkpatrick, Meyers, and Isbell), 1 candidate for County Commissioner (McGowan), and 6 candidates running for the Clark County School Board Trustee positions (Matthew, Young, Janison, Schutt, Taylor, and Garvey). Cheyenne High School would like to thank all the candidates that attended this event for their dedication to Education and commitment to Clark County School District students.
