Biography
Mrs. Burt teaches freshman, sophomore, and senior English at Desert Oasis High School in Las Vegas, NV. She is a writer who enjoys helping teenagers strengthen their written expression and critical thinking skills. Mrs. Burt, who has taught English in secondary schools for the past six years, previously wrote professionally as a newspaper journalist. Based on her journalism experience, she has a strong understanding of her community, and she shares that experience and expertise with her students. Mrs. Burt, who also has Nevada credentials to teach social studies, maintains a strong command of the English language. After all, her favorite hobbies are writing and reading (nerd alert!). She adores spending time with her family, taking pictures, and hiking. Her creativity reveals itself in the lessons she presents and in a poetry book she wrote with her mom during the summer of 2008. Mrs. Burt has a wonderful husband and is raising two fun, fantastic sons.
