Gloria and Joseph Mattera National Scholarship Fund for Migrant Children (National) Amount: approximately 100 awards from $150 - $500 Eligibility: Recent history or movement for agricultural employment – priority will be given to currently interstate migrant youth ( a copy of the applicant’s current or most recent Migrant Education Program Certificate of Eligibility – COE is necessary). Scholastic potential, financial need. Enrolled in or accepted at an accredited public or private college, technical or vocational school, or a dropout or a potential dropout from high school who shows promise of ability to continue schooling. Does NOT require a social security number, legal residency, or citizenship in order to apply. |
There is no deadline for application. Applications are reviewed on a case by case basis and are limited to one award per 12 month period. |

John F. Kennedy Profiles in Courage Essay Contest Scholarship (National) Amount: $6,500 total awards Eligibility: High school students, home-schooled students or students under 20 who are enrolled in a high school correspondence/GED program may enter the contest. Essays must be less than 1,000 words, and must describe how an elected official demonstrated political courage by addressing an issue at the local, state, or national level. 2007 Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship (National) Sponsor: Elks Club Amount: 500, 4 year awards, ranging $4,000 - $6,000 Eligibility: Senior. U.S. Citizen. List jobs held and community service performed. List honors and awards. Essay of 500 words or less. There are three (3) topics to choose from. Parental Financial Statement. Transcript. SAT/ACT scores. Two letters of recommendation. Attach copies of exhibits of achievement in scholarship, leadership, athletics, dramatics, community service, or other activities. 2007 Elks National Foundation Legacy Awards (National) Sponsor: Elks Club Amount: 500 - $1,000 Eligibility: Any graduating senior that is a child or grandchild (or step-child, step-grandchild, or legal ward) of a living Elk who joined the order on or before April 1, 2004, and has been a member in good standing since then, or a charter member of a lodge that was instituted on or after April 1, 2004. The Elk must also be a paid-up member through March 31, 2007. The applicant must apply through the parent/grandparent’s Elks Lodge.
