Dear Families,

The 2009-2010 school year is off to a fantastic start! Our students and teachers have settled into classroom routines and are hard at work focusing on teaching and learning.

This year we were delighted by the outstanding attendance at our first Open Parent Meeting (PAC) and participation at our Parent Volunteer Training. We hope that many more of our parents will be able to attend our next Open Parent Meeting which will be held on Thursday, October 15^th at 9:15 am in the multi-purpose room. 

We continue to be very proud of the wonderful differentiated reading instruction and new school-wide reading intervention/enrichment time we offer to all of our students to address their individual reading abilities and needs.  In addition, this year we continue to offer Schoolhouse Chess, Spanish Club, Little Pastry Chefs, Art Club, and Music (Dynamo, Chorale & Singers) as part of our before and after-school enrichment programs. 

We are very grateful to our families for their generosity in supporting this year’s West Coast fall fundraiser which raised approximately $10,000.00 for our school. The money will be used to cover the cost of a new copy machine, school assemblies, and class field trips. Our Fall Festival will be held on Friday, October 16^th from 4pm to 8pm and promises to be tons of fun.  Our families who participate will enjoy exciting games, great food, a haunted house and the opportunity to win some outstanding prizes. We hope to see everyone there!

We are thrilled to be able to continue to provide improved communication to our families through Parent Link which gives parents on-line access to students’ grades and transmits phone calls with important school information.

Picture Day will be held o Friday, October 23^rd. Also, October 29^th will be the last opportunity for you to preorder a yearbook at the cost of $20. Yearbooks that were preordered will be distributed in the spring and there will be no additional copies sold at that time.
