Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year and the Ruthe Deskin Elementary School website. It has been a privilege to be the principal of such a wonderful school for the past four years. At Deskin, we continue to be committed to excellence in education and the success of each of our students. We believe in working collaboratively with parents to provide a positive, safe, and caring environment where each child is valued as a unique individual, provided opportunities for academic and social growth, and challenged to achieve academic success commensurate with his/her abilities.

 A little about me......

 I started my educational career in New York as a kindergarten teacher, trained teacher of the deaf and speech therapist for thirteen years. I moved to Las Vegas with my husband and three children in 1997 where I continued as a speech therapist in the Clark County School District and as an assistant principal at Joseph Neal, John Bonner, James Gibson and Selma Bartlett Elementary Schools prior to being appointed principal of Ruthe Deskin ES. When I'm not at school, I enjoy traveling with my family, reading, going to Lake Mead on the weekends and playing with my two Shi Tzu puppies, Ginger and Coco.
