Mr. Pat Diskin

An outstanding athlete, coach, and educator came to Nevada in 1931 from his native Pennsylvania. After graduate work at the University of Nevada, Reno, Mr. Pat Diskin accepted a coaching position at Lincoln County High School in Panaca. While coaching at Lincoln County High School, his basketball team won the Southern Zone Championship and came in second in the state tournament of 1933. The next fall he moved to Las Vegas as a teacher and head basketball and baseball coach at Las Vegas High School. While at Las Vegas High, Mr. Diskin coached state basketball championship teams in 1949 and 1953. He remained in Las Vegas until his Nevada retirement in 1966. After retiring from the Clark County School District in 1966, Mr. Diskin moved to South Lake Tahoe, California, and became the principal of adult education. Mr. Diskin married Geraldine Schofield, daughter of a pioneer Nevada family, in 1939. The Diskins became parents of two daughters, Patricia Anne and Connie Mary. Mr. Pat Diskin passed away in 1968.
