Summer School FAQ

Q: How do I register my student for summer school?
A: You can register your middle school or high school student for summer school through your student’s counselor at school. Parents can not register their student without first going through the counselor. This is to avoid a student accidentally retaking a class or signing up for the wrong class or wrong semester. Please contact your student’s school to find out their specific summer school sign-up procedures.

Q: My student registered for summer school with their counselor. How do I pay for it?
A: You can pay by credit card on the summer school website www.ccsd.net/schools/summerschool. You will need to know your child’s student ID# and birth date to log on. You will also be able to pay with cash at the summer school site your student will be attending during walk in registration as space permits.

Q: I need to change the session or summer school class my student will attend. How do I do this?
A: Contact your school counselor.

Q: Does the school district offer summer school for elementary school students?
A: CCSD does not offer summer school for elementary school students. There are summer enrichment programs offered through governmental agencies such as the City of Henderson, The City of Las Vegas, and Clark County. Fees may vary.

Q: Can students who are from out of state or private schools take summer school classes?
A: Students without a CCSD student number can register for summer school during walk in registration at the summer school site they would like to attend. Space is limited so registration cannot be guaranteed.  Items needed for registration:  birth certificate, shot records and transcript/report card

Q: Are there any scholarships or fee waivers available for summer school?
A: CCSD does not offer fee waivers or scholarships for summer school.

Q: Is transportation provided for summer school?
A: Transportation is not available for summer school. Parents are responsible for providing their own transportation.

Q: I received a letter from my student’s middle school stating that they need summer school in order to move to the next grade. How do I know what classes they should take?
A: Please contact your student’s school counselor to discuss which classes your student should take and any other information about your student’s academic needs.
.
Q: Can my student take classes to get ahead in school or is it just for making up failed classes?
A: It is important to discuss plans for summer school with your student’s counselor.  For middle school students, summer school is only offered for making up failed classes. High school students may attend summer school to either make up classes or to advance in some subjects.

Q: I am having trouble paying online. Who do I call for help?
A: If you have a pop up blocker on your computer it may need to be disabled in order for the payment screen to work correctly. If your pop up blocker is disabled and you are still having trouble call summer school hotline at 855 – 9751.

Q: How can I check to see if my student is registered for classes?
A: You can go to the summer school website www.ccsd.net/schools/summerschool. and enter you child’s student # and birth date. If your student is registered, information will appear on the screen including which class and which session. If this information does not appear, then your student is not registered and you will need to contact your student’s counselor.
