Welcome to the Doris Hancock Elementary School website. The 2009-2010 school year celebrates Doris Hancock Elementary’s 45th year. Our academic emphasis is in the core academic areas of writing, reading, math and science. In addition to the academic program, students receive instruction in art, music, P.E., technology and library. Character education, highlighting important life skills, such as responsibility, respect, fairness, tolerance, honesty, and citizenship is also a focus each month.

There are some exciting new programs coming to Doris Hancock E.S. this year. Our school is designated as a Title I school. As a Title I school, Hancock Elementary receives additional resources to help support student academic success. The 21st Century Community Learning Center grant provides before and after school programs such as tutoring, computer lab, board games, sports and arts. Information regarding registration and schedules are available in the school office beginning August 24th. Our community gardens and Healthy Hawks fitness program continue, along with many other exciting activities for students and families held in conjunction with the Hancock Parent Teacher Association. We will also be working with many generous community partners and our Hancock Parent Teacher Association to provide a variety of fun and educational activities for students and their families. Our commitment is to work with parents and students to increase achievement and success for all students.
