Welcome to the Don E. Hayden Elementary School Website!

On behalf of the entire staff, I would like to thank you for entrusting your wonderful children to us everyday. At Hayden Elementary School we are proud to be the Heroes, and we take pride in working with our students to each day be their personal best.

I am honored to be the principal of Don E. Hayden Elementary School. I come to you with a love and passion for children and the teaching and learning process. I feel fortunate to be a part of a school where the culture is focused on student learning, with a commitment to high expectations, professional development, and collaboration. It is my intention to honor traditions previously established and build a community that we call our own.

Please take some time to peruse our site. The resources found here will help you know more about our school, our namesake, what we believe, and the calendar of events.

I am looking forward to getting to know the staff, parents, families, and students at Hayden Elementary School.

Russo

Hello Hayden Heroes! My name is Domenic Russo. This is my fourteenth year with the Clark County School District. I taught elementary school for eight years, spent two years as a Dean in middle school, and am in my fourth year as an elementary administrator. I have a passion for literature and enjoy visiting classrooms and watching the students gain an appreciation and love of reading. I understand the value of student writing and take pleasure in reading student’s published work. One of my favorite quotes is that, “Writers are the first readers of their work.” This illustrates the importance of writing and its direct impact on student learning. I am also looking forward to observing the students’ creativity and experimentation in both science and math. I feel that both subjects allow students to discover and understand solutions to real world issues. I am greatly anticipating the opportunity of this new school year, working with Mrs. Burns, the Hayden staff, students, and this entire school community.

See you on the playground!

-Mr. Domenic Russo
