Dr. Zaki was born in Cairo, Egypt, and her family moved back to the U.S. when she was very young. She grew up Southern California, where many family members still reside. Her family remains very close and they visit each other frequently. Dr. Zaki’s parents and her two brothers are teachers, so they spend a lot of time talking about education. She truly values all education, and strongly encourages others to pursue lifelong learning opportunities. She has a 7 year-old daughter and a 4 year-old son.

Greetings Frank Kim Elementary School Learning Community! Welcome to the 2008-09 school year! Frank Kim Elementary School faculty and staff will challenge, motivate, and nurture our EXPLORERS as they get excited about school, excel academically, and experience success. family support is equally critical to success: expect great things of our children and they will meet our expectations!
Each student and parent/guardian will receive a copy of our Student-Family Handbook. Please read and discuss each section of it with your child. Just like at home, when students understand expectations for conduct, they are very likely to meet those expectations.
We welcome and encourage family involvement. This year, we have a number of exciting activities planned for students and families, some of which include:
- Family Picnic Lunches – One Friday each month, join your child for a picnic lunch.
- Family Learning Nights – One evening each month, bring the whole family and join our dedicated teachers for some fun and exciting learning activities. Topics include: Math & Science, Writing, Technology, Reading, and Health & Fitness.
- Family Involvement Week (November 17-21, 2008) – Also known as American Education Week, put this on your calendar now! We look forward to a family visitor for every child sometime during the week. Detailed information will be forthcoming.
- Parent-Student-Teacher Academic Planning Time (December 15-19, 2008) – Put these dates on your calendar, too! Your child will be an active participant, able to articulate which standards s/he has met and others that need more work.
- Nevada Reading Week (March 2-6, 2009) – A highlight every year, the Frank Kim community can look forward to an assortment of activities that encourage children to read. This year’s theme: Discover the Mysteries of the World.
- Parent Teacher League – WE NEED PTL LEADERSHIP!!! Families get involved and help support our PTL in numerous ways, including the various fundraisers throughout the year and Teacher Appreciation Week.
Watch your Kim Connector each month for updates and additions!
