This year, Frank Kim will be participating in our first annual Penny Harvest! The Penny Harvest is a yearlong service-learning program that gives students an opportunity to make a positive difference in their community. Last year in New York, where the Penny Harvest got its start, school children raised nearly one million dollars by collecting pennies. Every cent went to the charities of the students’ choice. Our goal at Frank Kim is to collect at least $1,000 in pennies.

In the fall, our students will be busy collecting pennies. Students can bring in pennies any school day - and they don't have to be just pennies. We'll gladly accept pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters! During the winter months, the students will form Philanthropy Roundtables to study community issues and needs. Students will determine which organizations best address the issues they are most concerned with. In the spring, the students will make grants to their chosen charities.

Please help support our students’ growth as concerned citizens that can make a positive difference in our world. Every cent counts! Every student counts!

Mr. John Krall, one of our 4th grade teachers, is our Penny Harvest coach. You can email him with questions you may have about this project.
