Bring in your Box Tops for Education use flyer

Due to the recent budget cuts to our schools we are asking for donations of all kinds. We are asking families to donate $10 to help defray the cost for student incentives. Please contact the banker to make a cash donation.

We are also collecting school supplies and school appropriate magazines for student use throughout the school year. Please contact our Parents As Partner liaison Jennifer Ritz or email Inbox_244@interact.ccsd.net if you have questions.

Pedestrian Safety
As you may be aware, Lied Middle School has continuously addressed pedestrian safety with our students.  In light of recent events in the community and the continued disregard of pedestrian safety, on the part of some students, we have decided to partner with Officer Bassett of the Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) to begin a Keep Safe campaign to increase students’ and parents’ awareness of pedestrian and driver safety.

It is our hope that by doing this, our school community will demonstrate a higher regard for the safety and well-being of our students and subsequently, prevent any injury or fatality.

The campaign will involve two mini-lessons on this topic, a student and parent Pledge, an essay and/or poster contest, as well as a parent volunteer drive.

Keep Safe lessons will involve the viewing of a video created by LVMPD that may be unsettling to students.  Parents may review the video at the following link:  http://youtu.be/zANag-bYjUk .  If you do not want your child to view the video, please send a note to that effect no later than Friday, March 30, 2012.  Lessons will begin the week after Spring Break, April 9-13, 2012.

More information regarding the Keep Safe Campaign will be sent home with students.

Thank you for your cooperation as we continue to address the safety of our students.

Eraser Burns
Please pay attention to your child's hand's and arms. Check their skin for eraser burns. Students are using erasers to mark their body and rubbing it raw through the use of friction and force. This is not safe for students to continue to do their skin and is a disruption to the school campus. Please discuss this with your child and the potential harms it will create.

Tdap Clinic
Tdap Clinic will be held at Cadwallader on March 28 from 2:30-4:00 pm. Login to parentlink to get the information sheet and Letter of Intent.
