Technology Profile
Monaco
Middle School currently has over 600 computers, over 100
printers, and a high-speed local area network connected to
the school district's wide area network and the Internet.
Most of our computers use the Microsoft Windows XP operating
system . Some of our computers
use Apple's OS X.
We use computers for most management functions, for many
teaching purposes, and for productivity.
Instructional components consist of four full computer labs
on the Monaco campus; a computer in each teacher’s
classroom; computers in the library for research and
information access; centralized media distribution
capabilities; and three mobile laptop computer labs for
unique projects. All math teachers are equipped
with enough computers in their classrooms to allow one-third of
their students at a time to be on Compass Learning
Math or Cognitive Tutor. Also, six teachers are equipped
with enough computers in their classrooms to allow a third
of their students at a time to use the Read180 suite of
programs as part of their reading instruction. All English
teachers have at least one computer in their classrooms so
their students may take Reading Counts quizzes. Soon we
will place enough computers in each English classroom to
enable a third of their students to use Criterion Writing
at a time.
