Please be aware that there are unsafe things and people that students can run into on the internet.
- Cyber bullying;
- Predators;
- Inappropriate Materials;
- Viruses, and
- Hackers.
Some Tips:
- Be involved - know what your child is doing online & who they are talking to.
- Be prepared - give clear instructions and set boundaries as to where your child may go online.
- Be educated - kids may seem very technologically savvy but they are still learning. They don't know that they are not supposed to give out personal information online.
- Be there - the more time you spend makes it fun to be online.
- Be critical - kids learn better when you help them evaluate their resources for homework.
- Be informed - know what are your school district policies.
- Be visible - keep the computer in plain site where you can check your child's progress online.
