November 3-20, 2009
We've begun our annual Food Drive for the Salvation Army! This food drive helps those in Las Vegas who are not able to afford meals for themselves and their families. Please donate non-perishable food items. (Anything that is boxed or canned works best.) |

A donut party will be given to the
advisory class in each grade level
with the most items donated. |

School Sponsored Clubs and Activities
Sawyer has a wide variety of clubs, organizations, and activities for students. These are sponsored by teachers, and meetings usually take place after school. Some of these groups are: Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball, Band, Choir, Cheerleading, Bowling, Orchestra, Math Counts, National Junior Honor Society, Drama, Art, Student Council, Writing Club, Homework Club, Dance, Science Quiz Bowl, and an intramural program consisting of several team and individual sports, such as basketball, volleyball, soccer, flag football, table tennis, track, and tennis. Clubs and intramurals will meet throughout the school year and transportation via the late bus is available for students who ride the bus to and from school. A calendar of all clubs, times, and dates will be provided in the parent newsletter and will be posted on our bulletin board in the cafeteria and meeting times and dates will be advertised during morning announcements.
High Five for Mustang Pride
Anyone on staff can give a High Five when you are “caught doing something good”. You may redeem the High Five at the student store.
Magnificent Mustang
Another way we recognize students is by catching them following the “three B’s” and giving them a ticket. The “three B’s” are:
-
Be respectful.
-
Be responsible.
-
Be safe.
Students turn in the tickets to the boxes on campus in the deans’ office, the front office, and the library, for a certificate and a treat. Each quarter the principal draws the names of the Magnificent Mustang winners for the grand prize award.
