Parent Survey - CCSD 2010
The Districtwide PARENT Survey 2010 will kick off online March 1st and remain available through April 16th. As in the past, we are asking that each family take the survey from your home, work, or library computer. If they do not have access to a computer, please come in and use the computer that we have set up in our front office.
The link to the survey will be available here at "Parent Survey 2010" or through the Clark County School District website at www.ccsd.net/parentsurvey. We are hoping for a large parent turnout and will appreciate your participation in the survey.
Thank you in advance for your help with the very important District survey. |

ParentLink Accounts
Getting An Account: ParentLink is a web based
parent communication tool that provides families with
current grades, attendance, and cafeteria balances.
ParentLink has a messaging system that will automatically
dial home phone numbers to provided attendance information
and messages for the school. The messages that are sent,
are also available to the parent for rereading. Should
our Schofield MS Parent/Guardian need to be reminded
of their login and password, or request a login and
password for the first time, Schofield MS Parents/Guardians
may email a request to "277ParentLink@interact.ccsd.net".
Please include in the e-mail message your full name,
your student's full name, your student's Student ID,
and a home phone number. If you do not have an e-mail
account, click here, ParentLink-Request
User Code(s) , for a printable form, that
can be sent with your student to our counseling office,
to request the parent/guardian codes. ParentLink requests
are typically handled within 48 hours of the receipt
of the e-mail or the form.
The Inbox Messaging: ParentLink provides messaging from the District and the local attended school(s). When the parent activates the account and logs into the system, the opening page of the account provides several "Tab" designed links. The first tab is the user's Home page tab. In the middle of the page the section "Messages" has two active links - "Inbox" and "Outbox". Next to the word "Inbox" is a number. This number represents the unopened messages that you have received since the last time you looked at the account. Clicking on this link will take you to all of the messages that are available for you to read. As you read the messages, your number will decrease, but the message will not be removed unless you check it and click the "REMOVE" button at the bottom of the page. Please note: Currently the "Outbox" feature is NOT available to system users.
Summer (Yearly) Preparation: As we move into summer, we want to make sure that you will have full access to ParentLink on your summer's schedule.
First, take a moment to write your parent user name and password down in a safe place. Being that you will probably not use your accounts during the summer, you will have your codes ready for the new year.
Second, setting up your email address in ParentLink enables you to reset your password if it is ever lost or forgotten, receive email messages from your school, and subscribe to other important ParentLink communications. To do this, simply log in to ParentLink, click on the “My Account” tab, and click the “ADD” button at the “Email Addresses” section. Once you have entered the email address on the “Add Email Address” page, click the “SAVE” button. Don't delay, set up your email address today!
Third, if you have issues with adding your email address, send an email to our parentlink email address: "277ParentLink@interact.ccsd.net" include in the message your account code that you are using. This will help us determine what information you will need. |

REGIONAL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
The mission of all the regional programs is to provide high quality professional development based on Nevada’s academic standards that will result in increased student achievement.
The Southern NevadaRegional Development Program (SNRPDP) serves teachers and administrators in Clark, Esmeralda, Lincoln, Mineral and Nye Counties. RPDP provides both teachers and families resources to help improve student performance in Math, Science, English and Literature Content. This web site provides up-to-date information and strategies that support the teaching strategies of curricular content in the classroom. Users of the web site will also find practice exams for math content. Substitute teachers will also find notes that are helpful in the delivery of instruction when they visit an absent teacher's classroom. Parent have found these notes also helpful as tutorial information when assisting their students at home.
Another feature that is offered at this web site, is an instructional assistance Help Line. Parents or students can call and leave a message for what assistance they are looking for, and someone will call within 48 hours of the request for help.

CIVIL AIR PATROL Program
A new school enrichment program called the Civil Air Patrol, or CAP is coming to Schofield Middle School. Joining the Civil Air Patrol is one of the best decisions a young person can make. Our Cadet program is one of the missions assigned to us by the U.S. Congress. In addition to inland search and rescue and aerospace education, Civil Air Patrol is tasked with helping America's young people develop character and leadership ability, learn about emerging technology and share quality time doing work that matters.
CAP's Cadet Program has more than 27,000 members, ages 12 to 21, throughout the nation. Cadets enrolled in Schofield Middle School can join at any age. Parents of cadets credit our program with communicating to their children the importance of personal integrity, accountability, self-discipline and respect for others. Because CAP includes both cadet and senior members, this can be an outstanding volunteer activity for your whole family. You can work together to serve your local community, learn new skills and share a common commitment to making our nation stronger and more secure. We realize that you may not be familiar with the Civil Air Patrol, its mission and how your son or daughter actually participates in CAP. So, we've prepared the following list of answers to some of the most common questions parents and guardians may have. Of course, we also encourage you to meet with your child's unit Commander or Recruiting and Retention Officer to discuss any additional questions you may have.
The Schofield Cadet Squadron meetings will be after school starting in the 2009-2010 School Year. Meeting times and days will be sent out as soon as we have the appropriate schedules made up.
For questions you can email the CAP advisor, Ms. Tingey at atingey@interact.ccsd.net or our CAP squadron lieutenant, Lt. Keri Henderson at KHenderson.nv802@gmail.com. Lt. Henderson can also be called at 702-272-0233.
Additional information is provided at the following links, including the application for joining the Schofield MS Civil Air Patrol (CAP). |
