It is a pleasure to be back in this valley and I am looking forward to another great year.

Steve White

Mr. White

Mr. Steve White graduated from Southern Utah University, where he played football and graduated with a major in English and minors in Physical Education and Education. After graduating from college, he began teaching English courses in the Weber County School District in northern Utah. During his seven years of teaching in Weber County, he also went on to earn a Masters degree from Weber State University. Mr. White often visited Mesquite to see his good friends from high school, Brian and Cristie Wursten. He and his wife loved the area, especially in the winter, and had good friends in town, so when an opportunity arose for them to teach at Virgin Valley High School, they transferred. Mr. White is beginning his twelfth year at VVHS. While at VVHS, he started an Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition course because he felt many of the students needed this challenging course and could benefit from an opportunity to earn college credit during high school. This course has been a success and currently VVHS has a higher percentage than the national average of students who take this AP test and pass. Mr. White was also an assistant football coach for eleven years, and he is currently serving as the English department chair and as an advisor for the VVHS Interact Club.
