The middle school division at West Prep offers instructional programming geared to prepare students for high school studies. Students in the middle school division have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities including basketball, ballroom dancing, intramural sports, and fine arts programming. Selected students also serve as student ambassadors to assist incoming students and provide tutoring assistance to elementary-aged students.
A typical day within the middle school division at West Prep includes a seven period day focused on academics, remediation, and enrichment learning opportunities. The sixth grade is divided into two houses to ensure that students are consistently monitored for behavioral, social, and academic progress. The two houses serve to ensure that elementary students experience a smooth transition to the middle school division of the school. In the spirit of competition, teachers within the sixth grade houses promote healthy competition between the two houses on campus.
The teachers in the middle school division work to establish rapport with all students and promote an individualized educational environment. Students are reminded of the expectation that all students will be prepared to attend a college or university at the end of their high school careers.
