Your child’s health will affect how he/she feels, looks, acts and learns. This booklet will cover some of the common problems and questions about school and health. For any questions or concerns, please call your School Nurse for assistance.

The CCSD Health Services Department encourages parents/guardians to maintain close contact with the nurse at their child’s school. A school nurse may be reached by leaving a message at the school or calling the Health Services Department at 799-7443.
Health problems, including any changes in a child’s health status, should be brought to the attention of the school nurse and first aid safety assistant. Teachers are made aware confidentially of significant health problems that impact education.
Children with temperatures of 101 degrees or higher or who are suffering from vomiting or diarrhea should stay home from school. If antibiotics have been prescribed for contagious diseases, children may return to school after they have taken the medication for 24 hours.
Care for ill or injured students is administered by first aid safety assistants or office personnel, under the supervision of school nurses. School nurses are on site generally two days a week and are on call daily from other school sites. Wynn Elementary does not maintain emergency equipment.
It is extremely important that parents provide the school with their CURRENT telephone numbers and any changes as they occur. When school personnel are unable to contact a parent or other designated person, emergency medical services personnel may be requested through 911 to assess seriously ill or injured students. Every attempt will be made to notify the parent, guardian or designee of any student emergency situation. Students with a fever or significant illness/injury cannot be placed on the bus or allowed to walk home if school personnel are unable to reach a parent or guardian.
